This considers the idea of removing government-imposed traffic laws and relying instead on individual responsibility for road safety. Proponents argue that voluntary compliance respects individual freedom and personal responsibility. Opponents argue that without traffic laws, road safety would significantly decline and accidents would increase.

No, but traffic violations should not purely exist to generate revenue. Speeding outside a school bad. Speeding on a NSL moor road, fine.
@9N6RTQX8mos8MO
Take away the unnecessary traffic laws such as the new 20mph roads as this is more likely to cause accidents. As well as parking situations if it’s safe to park you should be allowed to. However maintain the important traffic laws such as national speed limit etc.
@9P8JWMS7mos7MO
Stop manufacturing / allowing for vehicles that can exceed 70 mph / better speed limiting technology that doesn't allow users to exceed speed limits.
@9P6G5MR7mos7MO
Yes, the traffic laws aren't working to the best of their ability. The amount of road users there are and with the idiocy and laziness of the general public, we should get rid of the traffic laws and leave it to natural selection.
no but speed limits should be raised and legalise not wearing a seatbelt and using a mobile phone whilst driving.
@9PMTVRP7mos7MO
Used to be more based on common sense. Get drivers to read the Police - Roadcraft manual and be tested on it - not the 'Highway Code'.
@9PY4DQS7mos7MO
Literally no one can drive by the rules anyway after they pass their test. This is well known. So I think if they were to stay it should be you have a license for x amount of time before you renew it
@9NJ22YYConservative8mos8MO
NO just get rid of 20mph (unless outside a school) and put all Motorways back to National speed limit of 70mph.
@9MY48WG8mos8MO
Regardless, The MP's Who Hold The Seat Of Their Electorate Should Decide Between Traffic Laws Or Voluntary Compliance
@9PRJHLRConservative7mos7MO
They should reduce the current traffic laws but not eliminate them entirely. I think eliminating them entirely would cause havoc on the roads as they are still too many dangerous drivers in the UK.
@9PPTP7W7mos7MO
Remove use of speed camera vans and raid national speed limit it by at least 10MPH as cars are safer now
@9P7M63P7mos7MO
No but they need to rethink how to effectively enforce safe driving. Less reliance on speed cameras and more proactiveness in stopping bad actors on the road.
Traffic laws need a major overhaul to make them current, higher speed limits out of built up areas, but lower in some built up areas.
@9N3R4598mos8MO
No but reduce wasting of funding on heavy monitoring
@9MZVNV28mos8MO
No, but speed limits and cameras are getting over the top.
@9MZCF358mos8MO
No, however some traffic laws need to be updated as newer vehicles have better technology and are safer
@9MYKLV48mos8MO
No All Traffic laws should be reassessed to make sure they are suitable for the changing traffic of our times.
@9PYQ78P7mos7MO
speed limits on non residential roads should be increase. Policing should focus less on speed and more on bad drivers.
@9PKFYBV7mos7MO
No, but change speeding law. Speeding itself should not be an offend, but if it cause any accident, more penalty can be imposed.
@9PG7GBD 7mos7MO
Somewhat move towards encouraging safe driving rather than applying one rule for all but maintain eg a max national speed limit.
@9P69DX27mos7MO
No, but the national speed limit should be unrestricted on motorways with 2+ lanes I.e autobahn model
@9NS9WP98mos8MO
I think a lot of traffic laws are unnecessary but people should be penalised for driving incompetence such as crashes and public injury.
@9MWCZ7M8mos8MO
Still include traffic laws such as no driving under influence and laws around distraction however speed limit should be adjusted higher
@9PNCRJD 7mos7MO
There is evidence to suggest that too much law can make roads more dangerous than basic rules where people are given more freedom to make sensible choices.
@9PD8BY47mos7MO
No, but the national speed limit should be increased to reflect modern car and bike technology/safety.
@9NJVRKB8mos8MO
No, but the government should increase the national speed limit, remove traffic and speed cameras, limit roadworks, and any temporary lower / average speed zones as a reault of roadworks are only active when work is actually being undertaken.
@9NB7WNF8mos8MO
No but modernise most of the laws especially speeding which was created years ago for older vehicles.
@9N3YWQF8mos8MO
No but they should not target motorists as much as they do. there are more important things for the police to be doing
@9NCWCQN8mos8MO
No, but traffic laws and infrastructure should be dramatically updated to allow for self driving vehicles
@9P38XN57mos7MO
I think they are focusing alot of traffic laws when there are much more important things. Also if they stopped changing so many limits on the motorways we would have less crashes and issues.
@9NL8HGW8mos8MO
It's a debatable topic,! Some argue that eliminating all traffic laws and relying on voluntary compliance could lead to chaos on the roads, while others believe that it could promote a sense of responsibility among drivers.
