Legislating zero-hour contracts is challenging
In some cases, such contracts can benefit both employers and employees, making it harder to distinguish when they are being misused. A possible solution could involve arbitration or introducing laws that limit how zero-hour contracts are structured, similar to how the Working Time Directive protects employees. For instance, making it illegal to offer such contracts in ways that exploit workers would provide clearer guidelines. Moreover, companies could be taken to court for unfair treatment, ensuring better protection for employees while maintaining flexibility where it's mutually beneficial.
