The UK government, led by Prime Minister Keir Starmer, is set to introduce stricter immigration and citizenship rules.
Migrants will now need to live in the UK for ten years before they can apply for citizenship, up from the previous five-year requirement. English language standards for all visa applicants and their adult dependents will also be raised. Exceptions will be made for high-skilled individuals who make significant contributions to the economy and society, such as doctors, nurses, engineers, and AI experts.
These reforms are part of a broader effort to tighten the UK's immigration system and address public concerns over migration.

About time the government got serious on this – it’s been way too easy to get UK citizenship for years. If you want to live here, you should prove you can speak proper English and actually contribute, not just show up and expect a passport. Let’s hope this is just the start and they don’t water it down for political correctness.
