During the Great Depression of the 1930s, for example, economic progressives in the United States advocated for the New Deal, a series of programs and policies designed to provide relief for the unemployed and poor, recovery of the economy, and reform of the financial system. In more recent years, economic progressives have focused on issues such as income inequality, affordable healthcare, and climate change.

    While economic progressivism is often associated with left-wing politics, it is not exclusive to any one political party or ideology. There are economic progressives who identify as Democrats, Republicans, Socialists, and Independents, among others. What unites them is a shared belief in the power of government to create a more equitable and just economic system.
