  • Socialism is a political ideology that advocates for the collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods.     In the 20th century, socialism took on many different forms across the world. In the Soviet Union, it was manifested in the form of a centrally planned economy controlled by the state, while in Western Europe, democratic socialist parties sought to combine a commitment to social justice and equality with a belief in democracy and pluralism.

    Despite its many variations, socialism as a political ideology has consistently advocated for a reduction of inequalities through the redistribution of wealth and power. It has been a major force in world politics for over a century, shaping the policies of many countries and sparking intense debates about the nature of economic and social life.
