Following the controversial nationwide rollout of default 20mph limits in Wales, the debate has spread across the UK. Proponents cite statistics showing significantly reduced fatality rates for pedestrians struck at 20mph versus 30mph. Opponents view it as government overreach and a revenue-generating exercise through fines, arguing it hurts the economy by slowing down delivery drivers and commuters. This issue has become a key cultural battleground between environmentalists and motoring advocacy groups.

Blanket limits can ignore the specific needs of different roads. Again, case by case is the way to go. And I'm sick of hearing about the "war on motorists": if a speed limit is put in lace by those with the power and knowledge to do so, it should be obeyed. Entitled motorists who "think they know better" deserve every fine they have to pay.
