Yes, but make the questions realistic - that a regular citizen could answer; and use the answers to define further assistance to help the immigrants assimilate to life in the UK quicker.

Yes, but the test should only cover topics relevant to British culture and society for current times.

Yes, but it should cover useful topics such as how public series work, how to open a bank account etc. Nobody needs to know when women got the vote.

Yes but it shouldn't be just about passing one test. There should be active integration community programme to help foster a greater sense of community and importantly support for English language for those who are not native.

Some who have been discriminated before may be reluctant to engage with the wider culture and only their sub relatable culture.

This should probably be on an individual basis. Someone who has lived in the UK for 20 years and speaks English well shouldn't be required to. Neither should people who came here as children and are now adults.

They should only understand that important rights such as individual freedom and equality of sexes and races, are non-negotiable and their previous nation's attitude no longer applies. As long as their culture does not clash with these rights, then anyone is acceptable.

The test should be relevant and not set a higher bar to becoming a citizen than it requires of anyone born in the country.

Yes, and it should test more than just a basic level of understanding. Not only this, but it should also be a mandatory requirement of secondary education, taken along with the GCSE, failing to pass it would give you a limited citizenship, preventing you from voting.

Only those applying to settle should be asked to pass a basic citizenship test, not all immigrants. This is the case in the current system.

 @rcm2020Liberal Democratanswered…5yrs5Y

Most UK citizens couldn't pass the citizen test. They should be asked on if they understand the political system and if they understand laws. Historical knowledge doesn't correlate to someone's ability to live in a new country.

Yes, but only understanding the way in which the country works and fundamental values, not about history and other trivia

It should be a test of understanding law and the way we live our lives, this giving them an understanding of this.

People looking to live and work in the country should be required to learn the language. But, this should have the same prerequisite for British people looking I live and work abroad.

 @92Q3VXQLabouranswered…3yrs3Y

They should be encouraged to learn the language so they don’t segregate themselves from society
