In 2021/22, the United Kingdom spent approximately 48.6 billion British pounds on defense, an increase of around four billion pounds when on the previous year. In October 2022 British Secretary of State for Defence Ben Wallace announced that Britain’s military spending will double and reach 100 billion pounds by 2030, meeting the new Prime Minister Truss’ goal of increasing military spending to 3% of GDP.

I've seen myself where the money is being spent. For instance hundreds of consoles, pcs and tvs. It needs to put a limit on where the money is going.

With my desire to restrict our activities in foreign wars, our defence funding should only be calculated for national needs.
@9P6LYBDConservative10mos10MO
Our armed forces are a joke compared to what they once were, money needs to be better spent before more is invested.
@9N6P5K510mos10MO
Potentially increase or decrease. This needs to be looked in how we are spending the money in the first place as im sure some of it is wasted / services are overpaid.
@9LNG7TM12mos12MO
ONLY should increase if it is concern to our country. Should not be using our tax payer money for other countries crises, we don't even have enough money in the country. A lot of people/citizen are struggling, use tax payer money for own country.

The military spending should be moderate and balanced with other priorities for Great Britain. A military spending which is appropriate for defending the nation.
Increase but the money should better spent on quality equipment for soldiers and contracts need to be under all kinds of scrutiny.
@8XT95FL3yrs3Y
Increase spending on the navy.
Decrease - we should become a defence only military and put that money towards education, health and other services
@9BT6W6Y2yrs2Y
Yes but only to aid Ukraine
Decrease, and put the money into food and healthcare
Decrease, with a move to defunding the military
@93ZLT3S3yrs3Y
Decrease, the money could be diverted to public services.
@93SY82M3yrs3Y
Any increase in funding should only be directed towards ‘future proofing’ our military. Intelligence, anti-hacking capabilities, digital protections of infrastructure etc.
@93NPBQJ3yrs3Y
Increase, with specific focus on increasing the number of military personnel, Naval fleet size and cyber warfare.
@8Z8CBVW3yrs3Y
Because of other countries threatening war
@8YGGHN73yrs3Y
Actual amount should remain the same. There desperately needs to be a defence review and the introduction of a defence plan instead. Currently, money is wasted on poor procurement practises party as a result of a lack of strategy. Prioritise the Navy and Airforce.
@8TVB3D34yrs4Y
Increase for certain types of spending (e.g. cyber security), decrease for others (aggression).
@8QVXJSZ4yrs4Y
Increase in case war is likely
Decrease it and spend it on healthcare and education

@9B5ZM6Y2yrs2Y

@9B49R6D2yrs2Y
Increase to sustain a relevant service but not to get bigger
@99K357T2yrs2Y
Overhole the gand increase
Decrease, however more funding should be given to support veterans
Neither, change the priorities of current defence spending.
@98HTRYV2yrs2Y
Increase, but focus military roles on National Services such as supporting the NHS or working alongside Emergency Services
@92PHY3YLiberal Democrat3yrs3Y

@8XV3XH53yrs3Y
Military funding towards redundant technologies such as carriers should be completely slashed.

@8S5HX9X4yrs4Y

@8S3RZG24yrs4Y
Increase, but focus on the prevention of HR violations such as the millions detained, abused or killed in china in the past year alone.
@8S2GKKC4yrs4Y
Spend the money that Trident would cost to look after those who serve in the forces properly.
@8S22F354yrs4Y
@8RXDWTQLiberal Democrat4yrs4Y
Cut the military spending by 75%
@8RP4VYW4yrs4Y
Decrease and divert the spending to the NHS and public services instead
@8PMCFYH4yrs4Y
Neither, better management of resources which are allocated to the military
@8Q4BM454yrs4Y
Dependant on the threat. Should be relative to having a well functioning and equipped military without funding unnecessary projects/wasting money in peacetime
Change responsibilities and where soldiers are being sent/ what they are doing. Use to create positive change rather than war. Rebuilding countries assisting UK in global pandemic
Increase when under threat
@92GGL8R3yrs3Y
Military apending should be cut altogether.
