In 2021/22, the United Kingdom spent approximately 48.6 billion British pounds on defense, an increase of around four billion pounds when on the previous year. In October 2022 British Secretary of State for Defence Ben Wallace announced that Britain’s military spending will double and reach 100 billion pounds by 2030, meeting the new Prime Minister Truss’ goal of increasing military spending to 3% of GDP.

Decrease, focus on cyber-warfare and anti-terrorism and better our relationship and co-operation with the EU as a defensive bloc.
Abolish the current military structure, and implement a Japan styled 'self-defence' force based entirely on non-aggression, peacekeeping and self-defence principles.

Stop contracting recruitment to Capita for a start, that'll save loads of money and actually get more people through the door. My application was delayed for literally years until I gave up and sought out other opportunities.

Decrease but not entirely abandon. The military spending takes up a lot of money that could be useful elsewhere
@9HCY58Q1yr1Y
Yes - with everything going on in the world at the moment it’s good for us to be protected if needed
@9FCJG3ZLiberal Democrat2yrs2Y
spend less on this and more on national health service
@9PR46W611mos11MO
Increase as long as the money goes towards supporting people moving on from the military and the mental health of all personnel.
@95WS7523yrs3Y
It's a no brainer we have to maintain a military, we should spend according to need.
@95CBZSF3yrs3Y
increase if tentions of war are present
@922YM963yrs3Y
Neither or decrease, but increase foreign aid spending and use of our military for peacekeeping/humanitarian work.
@8YR45M83yrs3Y
Spending in different places of the military would be better
@8QNLTVR4yrs4Y
The aim should be to reduce the need for defence spending
@9CQ9C452yrs2Y

@9CNY7JL2yrs2Y
Really depends what they need and how serious it is
@9CFV3WM2yrs2Y
@9CDPPCX2yrs2Y
The increase should be around soldiers mental health and pensions
@9C3WJ6G2yrs2Y
it should be kept at a similar level however priority for funding should be evaluated
@92Q3G8P3yrs3Y
Decrease, but put in a law requiring an increase in case of war.
@92MYQPL3yrs3Y
Generally decrease, but spend it on the right things.
@8RV2MMJ4yrs4Y
Neither, but investments should be made in fields which can benefit civilian uses instead of weapons
@8Q262HC4yrs4Y
Implement a Japan styled 'self-defence' force based entirely on non-aggression, peacekeeping and self-defence principles.

I think we need a Cardwell 2! Our whole defence system needs to be reevaluated. I think we should look a creating a civil defence force that is capable of rapid reaction and mobilisation. Also the focus should be on effective border security, as this is more important than unwarranted and unethical incursions into other countries.
@8NYLZYZ5yrs5Y
Yes, it should be decreased only to the minimum required to sufficiently defend the nation, and any additional funding should be invested in educational, health care, space research.
