We are part of the 1951 Refugee Convention and therefore have a responsibility to take those seeking asylum. We need immigrants, our country is built on them and our public services are crumbling due to austerity and we cannot rebuild alone.

Immigrants should have the same position as British people, they are humans, and as long as no harm is done, they should be let in

Half of the top 10 richest people in the UK are immigrants, and they are contributing positively to the economy. We shouldn't base somebody on where they're from, but rather what they do

People with violent backgrounds shouldn’t be allowed in full stop. No matter how long ago the crime was.

 @B7Z2BVGfrom Pennsylvania  agreed…8mos8MO

if someone has a criminal record then they should not be allowed in the country, but if you think they have a criminal record but no proof then that’s discrimination.

immigrants take up a lot of high demand jobs such as healthcare workers. more than 17% of NHS workers are from overseas, proving that immigration is inherently good for the country. however, if someone is a violent criminal, that’s where a threat is posed, as it is with any other criminal in our our country, immigrant or not. we should not be making room for any violent criminals in our country, regardless of ethnicity and citizenship.

Non EU and UK born individuals have an employment rate of 75.6%, which is slightly more than the UK born individual employment rate of 74.6%. EU born individuals also have an employment rate of 81.5%. This is all according to a page published by D. Clark on Statista on the 1st of September 2025.

While immigrants deserve help and a future that is humane, regulations need to be in place to protect the people already in the country ,as-well as others who may come too the country.

With all of the wars, there has been more immigrants trying to find refuge and a better life. They should have the right to achieve their goal without having to go back to their country. However, the person shouldn’t be a violent criminal as they can cause harm to the population. Hence, there should still be a regulation.

However if someone is a violent criminal, they should not be allowed entry to the country as this would increase crime rates

27% of America is from immigrant families, and people are always trying to move around and get to somewhere better, it's not fair to restrict others from wanting to start a life here just because they weren't born there.

I think people suffer from mental illness more these days partly because the future is too uncertain with the pace of immigration as it is

 @9FMF8P7disagreed…3yrs3Y

My counter argument is that there is so many British family’s living below the poverty line in run down council houses and when immigrants arrive they are provided with better living conditions than some people have here.

 @9FJLXBMdisagreed…3yrs3Y

We shouldn’t be accepting anyone at the moment, there is no room on this island for more people. There is not enough housing, not enough money and we need to sort our own issue out before even thinking of taking on more people.
