You believe that a strong sense of national pride and loyalty will lead to a more unified and prosperous society.
Patriotism as a political ideology refers to the love, devotion, and sense of attachment to a homeland and alliance with other citizens who share the same sentiment. This attachment can be a combination of many different feelings relating to one's own homeland, including ethnic, cultural, political, or historical aspects. What role should education play in shaping an individual's understanding and expression of patriotism?
@9H5XM7V1yr1Y
Children should be taught about values and beliefs within the UK, however these should all be presented in order to allow them to make their own decisions.
@9H5V52G1yr1Y
All options shoujd be presented. So that the individual can make a choice given all options
Should teach kids what it means to be part of England
@9H94FRHLibertarian1yr1Y
Tell children about the country through history lessons during the year before their last year of primary school. Believe me, kids understand. And in their last year as well, tell them the full and correct history from other countries points of views, let them learn in their own ways and do not force them to support the country and be overly patriotic if they decide they don't want that, just because you live here doesn't mean you should be forced to agree this country is the best. It's not. They still have to abide by the laws, but that doesn't mean they have to like the country and they should certainly not be forced to and should know ALL the facts starting at a young age to be aware of this.

How can we demonstrate loyalty to our country in everyday actions, not just on national holidays?
@9JHWV3V 11mos11MO
Well we work to benefit both our country and those who live in it.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
Can a person be a true patriot without participating in traditional patriotic activities, like parades or national holidays?
Yes, in my view, patriotism is a pride in the land you live in and given that each person will have a different ways of displaying this, not participating in these events would not effect a person's patriotism.
It also takes a greater deal of patriotism to stand up against your government when it does wrong, as the people have a duty to hold politicians to account, so joining in the pageantry when this is the case is not an example of patriotism, but instead blind faith in your government, which is foolish.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
Is it possible to be patriotic while disagreeing with the actions or policies of one's government?
@9H6LW9B1yr1Y
Yes absolutely especially when the government acts in a way where I do believe its not making the best decisions for the country
@ISIDEWITH12mos12MO
How do you feel about compulsory national service as an expression of patriotism?
@9JSDZVL11mos11MO
Military Service is a way of life suited to only certain individuals it cannot be forced on people, there is a habit of looking at National Service with Rose tinted glasses conscription of any kind is an infringement on the rights of the individual
@ISIDEWITH12mos12MO

@9JS6SVT11mos11MO
Depending on the cultural export, this does represent a sense of national pride such as Football. We support our country and follow along and support the team.
