You believe that legalizing and regulating drugs will lead to reduced crime, improved public health, and increased individual freedom.
Drug liberalization is a political ideology that advocates for the reduction or elimination of government regulations and restrictions on drug use. This ideology is based on the belief that individuals should have the freedom to use drugs for recreational or medicinal purposes without interference from the state. It is often associated with libertarian and progressive political movements, which emphasize individual liberty and personal choice.

If drugs were legalized, what safeguards do you feel would be necessary to protect young people and vulnerable populations?

How to target overseas narcotics gangs
Clear open and transparent information for drug users

They would need to be heavily taxed in the same way smoking and alcohol is. Definitely not all drugs should be legal but weed is harmless. A limit should be imposed on how much can be bought at once and should only be sold over the counter and to people over the age of 18

What cultural shifts might occur if drug use lost its taboo status due to legalization?
@9HXYNNT4mos4MO
Depends on the drugs being legalised. I don’t think cannabis legalisation would be detrimental to society - cannabis coffee shops may become popular. Would rather them than alcohol fuelled high streets on a weekend evening. But if say heroine or crack was legalised then I think we’d see even more junkies.

Can treating drug use with compassion instead of punishment change societal attitudes?
I hope so. I think most people using drugs that negativity effect them would rather not be in that position. Addressing the causes of drug taking and helping addicts to come off them is likely to be more effective than punishing them as they are often in a poor position already. Thereby hopefully highlighting the issues people face that case them to turn to drugs.

What kind of support systems would need to be in place for those struggling with addiction in a society where drugs are legal?
@9HFWY5Z5mos5MO
Drug safe havens, well-run rehab facilities, much more education on drugs and on harm reduction, because that is the most important thing.

Can you imagine a future where drug use doesn't carry a stigma, and if so, what does it look like?
@9HG52NT5mos5MO
It may increase the amount of drug use, but I also think it would remove gangs and decrease the likeliness of fights breaking out, of which can lead to murder and harm.
