Over 1,000 workers in the UK are participating in a new trial of the four-day workweek, where employees will work fewer days without a reduction in pay.
This is the second major trial of its kind, following a successful pilot in 2022. The initiative aims to explore the benefits of a shorter workweek, including improved work-life balance and productivity. The trial is backed by the Labour government, with results expected to be presented next summer.
Currently, around 6% of full-time workers in the UK are already on a four-day schedule.

I'm all for improving work-life balance, but I think we need to make sure it’s sustainable for businesses too, not just the employees. If we can find a middle ground where productivity doesn't suffer and companies stay competitive, then it could be a win-win. But I’d want to see the data before fully jumping on board with something like this.
