IEA 2024 - 12 out of 16 studies found that housing supply decreased in periods following rent control policy implementation

Rent control was effective at reducing costs in targeted areas (56 out of 65 found as such) but 14 out of 17 found there were negative effects for residents outside of these areas, with rents increasing.
