To secure a skilled worker visa, people have to qualify for 70 points. Having a job offer from an approved employer for a skilled job and being able to speak English will give 50 points. The applicant can achieve the remaining 20 points if they are due to be paid at least £25,600 a year. They can also gain extra points for having better qualifications (10 points for a relevant…

Just allow eu citizens with university diploma to enter the country and provide them with the eu Settlement status as it is for the current ones
@9QLFFDV9mos9MO
A mixture of both, I think their should always be incentives to our citizens, however if high skilled immigrants are prepared to work then they should also be granted work visas
@9QHWDLH9mos9MO
we should make the people in this country claiming benefits and not working earn the benefits they get , We lack a work culture in this country Hence needing to bring in high skilled work force when this country cannot supply it own , this is obvious in the NHS pay the NHS what they are worth
@9Q9XWTY9mos9MO
Increase, but focus on higher quality of education to avoid needing to do this and lower immigration over time
increase where the individual an prove competence and the job role is in high demand without enough uk worker available
@9Q22QBD9mos9MO
Whatever the amount, there should be one salary for highly-skilled workers wherever they are from, so companies should not be able to benefit from hiring immigrant workers. They should be contributing and adding value to our workforce, not a way to save money from lower salaries.
@9PPH4LK9mos9MO
Increase, as we have a skills shortage and it’s preferable to have the skilled workers rather than disrupt our services/industries.
@9PB5SLV10mos10MO
Decrease and instead focus on providing adequate support and training to low-skilled national citizens.
@9P7YQ9Z10mos10MO
I don’t think this should change as we need UK residents to have priority over the jobs to reduce unemployment and increase overall GDP in the UK
@9P343X710mos10MO
Keep the same or increase in short to medium term but provide incentives to prepare our citizens for these jobs
@9NFJBP610mos10MO
Increase and decrease as necessary but encourage training in high-skilled professions within the UK.
@9MPX63B10mos10MO
Increase, but enforce that the wage paid to the immigrant worker is equal to what a domestic worker would receive
@9M2HC7N11mos11MO
There should be help for people interested to get into these roles, for example free education at degree level to help encourage enrollment. There should also be more help from secondary education to get the young interested and knowledgeable about sought after areas of work. Not to shoehorn but to point out helpfully.
@9KGMMZS1yr1Y
Increase, but add protections for such workers to avoid companies taking advantage of them for cheap labour.
@9KG22MR1yr1Y
It depends on the requirement at the time, it should be adjusted to reflect the needs of the state, you may not need 2000 nurses each year
@9JSY34D1yr1Y
Increase but the governmen should provide more incentives to prepare our citizen for these jobs so we don't have to rely on immigrant workers
@9H8QN8S1yr1Y
Decrease to certain countries such as India and Nigeria, and increase to countries in the Americas/Europe/the Far East
@9H7JMBG1yr1Y
The answers don’t provide for the most logical answer, which is that we should of course increase where there is demand (or a short supply of workers), and decrease where there is not
@9YHSNTS5mos5MO
They should have a choice at least, to be working the minimum hours everybody else is per week, but not being forced to exceed that number due to their ethnicity or immigrated information.
@9QVJ4JV9mos9MO
Increase, we currently have a shortage of high skilled workers, so we must utilize foreign workers as a temporary solution whilst we train up more domestic workers and provide more incentives for our own civilians to work
@9QPMB2VPlaid Cymru9mos9MO
Increase only where necessary to fill vacancies. In the longer term match training here to fill vacancies- with no tuition fees
@9NPZLBR10mos10MO
Increase, but focus on where we lacking trained professionals, like doctors, dentists etc. these are the backbone of our health services, we shouldn't be looking for lower wages
@9NL3Z6Q10mos10MO
Increase. But should monitor companies that take advantage of these people and pay them very little for too much work
@9MZYPW710mos10MO
Increase - our country relies on businesses hiring skilled workers. Business should be named and shamed of exploiting foreign workers at low cost. Long term, we should be investing in our young people to create more skilled workers. Education is a mess, starting in getting the basics right early rather than setting too high standards early, not allowing enough time to build solid foundations.
@9MWQ884 10mos10MO
Increase for all roles where the domestic resource available is under the requirements for good production
Points based immigration system is unfair. Entire system should be overhauled, especially as “lower skilled” jobs are currently most understaffed.
@9LL6JKV12mos12MO
Visa numbers should be based on the demands of the economy, and the government should provide more incentives to prepare our citizens for these jobs
@9J4H9XS1yr1Y
Why would you stop the skilled workers from working and you would pay them the same as everyone else is being paid not less !!!
@9FHXW9K2yrs2Y
‘Skilled’ or ‘unskilled’ work is a capitalist myth.
@9FCGY2Y2yrs2Y
Increase and make sure they have the same rights and wages as non immigrants
@9FBVJSY 2yrs2Y
Decrease, if they are highly skilled they should be offered permanent positions.
Businesses should be allowed to recruit the best candidates for the job, regardless of where they come from
@99Z557K2yrs2Y
Yes but they must be fluent in English
@96YBCZL2yrs2Y
The government should provide more incentives to prepare our citizens for these jobs and create more jobs/ job opportunities. However, we should still hire high skilled immigrant workers at a low cost in a controlled way/ at a controlled pace.
@96NG2NW2yrs2Y
Increase, but regulate the wages they are given. Everyone should be given the same, if not more, especially if they are highly skilled.
@96BBM9N2yrs2Y
Decrease, and the government should provide more incentives to prepare our citizens for these jobs as well as encouraging companies to hire Britons instead of foreigners as they deprecate the wages of the working class.
Base it on statistics in the workplace if there is a gap in the high skilled work area then allow the required amount for the estimated or required time
@8VJDDTQ4yrs4Y
If immigrants now live in the country they have migrated to they should not require a temporary work visa, they should be able to work freely in the country they reside
I am more concerned with raising minimum wage and the quality of work life for the working class. But I still believe that other people from different companies should have full right to work in our country, the issue is employees underpaying them and then quality of work suffers as a result.
@8SRBY9P4yrs4Y
Increase in sectors where recruitment is low.
@8QS5GWP4yrs4Y
Increase for those jobs that are in need but with equal pay and opportunities for uk citizens and it must be regulated to prevent corruption
@8QLFRSZ4yrs4Y
increase but stop companies from exploiting them
@8QFZYZ84yrs4Y
Increase, but introduce oversight on companies to prevent them paying unfair wages
@8Q67QRL4yrs4Y
Yes, but only if there is demand.
@8Q5D4ZQ4yrs4Y
Immigrants should have to qualify for a year working visa and then to extend there stay they must give back to the country e.g farmwork or agriculture work.
@8Q4Z5RD4yrs4Y
We should look at helping the homeless with jobs instead of letting imagramt in to claim benafits
@8Q4GKGN4yrs4Y
Current amount, government should also provide more incentives to prepare our citizens for these jobs
@8Q3Z2284yrs4Y
I just think if they can do the job well and it’s proven they’re beneficial then they should come
@8Q3MR8G4yrs4Y
Keep the same but at the same time give the education to the current citizens to do these jobs
@8PSKH2V4yrs4Y
Increase, but allow immigrant workers to earn the same wage as British workers
@8NZ76KN4yrs4Y
Increase, but make sure that the businesses cannot exploit labour from hard working people.
@8MQQMZ74yrs4Y
For industry yes, for NHS no
@8J2FNQ34yrs4Y
@8GRSVXF4yrs4Y
@9CLYQQXConservative2yrs2Y
We should increase but pay them inline with equivalent UK nationals to avoid companies taking advantage of them.
@9C4G2HZ2yrs2Y
Increase as our economy relies on the use of skilled workers, whether national or foreign, however they should be guaranteed the same minimum wage as all other national workers and it should be a liveable wage.
@9BZ5R682yrs2Y
Depends On The Quality Of Work For The Cost.
@9BRM3J52yrs2Y
Should fluctuate based on the market
@9BJC8TF2yrs2Y
Increase because migration controls are wrong
@9BGL8782yrs2Y
temporary work visas should be given to anyone willing to work
Get the uk unemployed to work
@99YX244Conservative2yrs2Y
Depending on each individuals expirience
@99VLSKC2yrs2Y
Immigration should be open to all who are not criminals, diseased (contagious), and enemies of the state.
@99DYGS52yrs2Y
Temporarily increase but focus on encouraging UK citizens to prepare for these jobs.
@996MPL62yrs2Y
Re negotiate with the EU and th U.K. can also live and work in Europe
@98WXMCW2yrs2Y
Yes, but keep it the same by decreasing the number of unskilled people coming in.
@98WPVLW2yrs2Y
Increase but also improve the pay and conditions for both immigrant and UK citizens so everyone participates in the economy.
@98TPN222yrs2Y
Skill the workforce we have living in uk
@98PGWKD2yrs2Y
The borders should be open
@98K5NP32yrs2Y
As long as we are satisfied that every effort is being sought to skill up people already in Britain
@98JY8SL2yrs2Y
Increase, but only if companies are willing to pat the same rates as UK citizens
@98HDJLK2yrs2Y
Increase, we don't have enough dentists and my teef look like they are from the great book of british smiles :)
@985YZFF2yrs2Y
Allow those with skills in high demand to enter
@97ZZZKY2yrs2Y
the government should provide more incentives to prepare our citizens for these jobs but shouldn't penalise foreigners from coming to the country either
@97NTF6S2yrs2Y
increase but make sure they are being paid fairly and working in acceptable conditions.
@97DLJ9N2yrs2Y
For jobs with high vacancies yes
@9778P65Women's Equality2yrs2Y
if they are hard working give them the same job and someone over here
@98DC7YH2yrs2Y
Increase, but only for those who are qualified to work in the public sector
@96PQVSD2yrs2Y
Increase, prioritise immigrant workers who are qualified in sectors with shortages
