Providing military service to the nation provides people with experience in combat, vital if facing attack, either domestically or from a foreign nation. It will make the people of this country more aware and secure.

It represents government coercion over free citizens.I believe in it in times of war as an extreme situation.But in times of peace, citizens should have the right to choose for themselves.This not only reduces costs of maintaining a military but creates more efficient and professional one.

ASB and young offenders are running rampant, with no prosecution once caught. Repeast ASB offenders, along with those partaking in vehicle theft, should be sent for mandatory service until they are fit to resume life in the civilian world.

Mandatory service will allow people to develop skills and experience that will benefit them throughout their life as well as improving national security as there will be more available, trained people for combat if required.

I believe making it an obligation would instill some good values, fitness and discipline into our youth, and also take away some of the stigma that has recently been attached to the military service. That they are just instantly going to draft them into war.They develop bonds that last a lifetime and learn some excellent trades, skills that carry through and can become a life long career.

If we are under attack by a hostile invader, and the choice is between protecting yourself and loved ones, or not, very few people would regret having received appropriate training.

All 18 year olds should do national service as the armed forces are so small, if we need to increase the them in a hurry them the younger population would all have military service

Service should be a must. It generates mental growth and understanding for future generations as well as respect, method, character and sense of strong community. It’s deems “obligations” because people have lost their sense of “I’m here for you for the country’’.
