We should allow immigrants into the country, yet not those with serious criminal records and we shouldn't accept all immigrants as this will cause the UK to become over populated, leading to perhaps depression.

 @B26HMQLanswered…3mos3MO

I mean its deep. Were probably overpopulated but good people from less fortunate places deserve a chance.

 @9VV4GFDanswered…6mos6MO

I think they should help them find homes maybe not in our country if there is to many people but I think there should be a system so that they can have homes in other countries that are safe

 @9T4RY4Tanswered…7mos7MO

No, in fact they should make it easier for people to immigrate to the uk and else for British citizens to emigrate and a brilliant solution would be bring back EU Freedom of Movement

 @9QQ7FSHanswered…9mos9MO

Yes, but better fund health and social care and higher education so they aren’t dependent on people coming from overseas

 @9QJC2KManswered…9mos9MO

I do not understand immigration laws enough to fully answer. I think like many countries, immigrants should be able to prove they have a job lined up or should be given a short visa to find a job, perhaps this already exists I do not know.

 @9Q5Y8CCanswered…9mos9MO

Yes and No. We need some immigration. However, asylum seekers should be processed more quickly, rather than leaving people sitting in hotels. Work should be done to undermine the criminal gangs involved in people trafficking. Many people in the UK do want less immigration, so goverments should also listen to people to avoid a further swing to the right.

 @9Q46QTGLabouranswered…9mos9MO

yes but protecting those with true refugee status, encouraging skilled migrants, and ensuring all migrants are able and willing to contribute to UK society and respect UK cultural and social values.

 @9Q43FGXLabouranswered…9mos9MO

Make checks regarding asylum and punishment for false asylum claims harsher. However, make the process for visa applications easier, and requests for asylum allowed and aided.

 @9PYW6CBanswered…9mos9MO

Not necessarily stricter, but yes to better vetting for criminals and post checks. A points system for skilled workers. There would be less immigration if there wasn't so much hardship at home, improve world poverty

 @9PF88V6answered…9mos9MO

Make a more realistic assessment policy for immigrants - don't turn away the skills we need or discourage PhD students and others with similar educational/skills levels

 @9P7Y7WBanswered…10mos10MO

No, but I think they should review regularly to ensure they have become productive citizens. We need unskilled and skilled workers in this country, and usually its foreign people who are willing to do the unskilled work

 @9P3Q2W8answered…10mos10MO

Immigration is needed for economic growth and there should be better legal routes with appropriate controls in place

 @9NYCGX2answered…10mos10MO

Immigrants should be allowed in based on an assessment of cultural values. Those with values contrary to western, egalitarian values should not be allowed in.

 @9NRRCB6answered…10mos10MO

Yes, but make the process easier for skilled labour and introduce legal routes for refugees and asylum seekers.

 @9NR627Q answered…10mos10MO

Stricter, not necessarily. But a points-based meritocracy so that we're striving towards immigration providing a net increase in skills, etc.

 @9NR42FTReform UKanswered…10mos10MO

Yes. End ALL immigration (net) to the UK. Forcibly deport every Muslim from Britain. It’s a 7th century death cult.

 @9NNDXQBanswered…10mos10MO

No - it needs to be easier and quicker for both legal immigrants and refugees. Only illegal immigrants would be using unsafe (criminal) routes.

 @9N75HCJanswered…10mos10MO

Of course checks should be made, however the process should be speeded up and be more efficient. Sending people to Rwanda is not the answer. Immigration is a global problem not just here in the UK

 @9MVCM43answered…10mos10MO

I think this issue needs a mature, non sensationalist debate with more understanding needed of the positives of immigration

 @9MSWSFManswered…10mos10MO

With the way housing is currently. More people make the demand for houses go up. It's just another fuel to the house price fire.

 @9MPC97Vanswered…10mos10MO

Only allow migrants in desperate need ie Ukrainian and Afghan refugees, limit others where there isn't sufficient to infrastructure

 @9JQ48LKanswered…1yr1Y

We should try and refuge people seeking a life away from war, but the UK May not be the best country for them, but the country they are redirected to should actually be safe and allow refugees

 @9PNMMNManswered…9mos9MO

I think it should be made easier for skilled workers and the spouses/children of citizens. I also think we need to work more closely with governments of Europe to come up with a fairer strategy for dealing with refugees.

 @9PK7RLManswered…9mos9MO

Accept anyone who does not have a serious criminal conviction, review recent immigrants to ensure they have been productive citizens

 @9P89FFCanswered…10mos10MO

We need a more competent immigration process. Not really concerned with immigration numbers and it’s unfortunate how it sways voters so much. We need skilled workers but this should not be linked to an unreasonable income threshold.

 @9NSJZ23answered…10mos10MO

It should be controlled & only open to people that arrive by legal means anyone from France should be taken back to France immediately. It is a safe country.

 @9FT3YS9answered…1yr1Y

If government was involved in any way in damaging a country then they open their doors with no questions asked! Background is important and skills

 @9PB5SDSanswered…10mos10MO

Yes the immigration policy and management needs a compliment overhaul where the problem is managed before people ever arrive in the UK. Skilled workers should find it easier as should refugees who it should made easier to apply from abroad.

 @9NXGQPRanswered…10mos10MO

Investing in proper processing of asylum applications as quickly as possible to fairly assess who can stay and who cannot would be my preference.

 @9BNH4FQanswered…2yrs2Y

No, we should encourage skilled and productive immigrants but we shouldn’t allow them to go onto benefits unless they are a citizen.

 @9BNGWKVLabouranswered…2yrs2Y

We should encourage those who are skilled and help those without skills to become productive members of society

 @95JCLL7answered…3yrs3Y

We should improve Immigration policy in tandem with Europe but de-escalate military action in the channel

 @92RVXDVanswered…3yrs3Y

Ensure criminal backgrounds are checked and limit people based on the sariousness of the offence

 @8T37WBManswered…4yrs4Y

Yes it should involve an easy but comprehensive screening to determine if the individual is entitled risk to society and whether or not they would be a danger to themselves and others

 @8SHKLNJLiberal Democratanswered…4yrs4Y

Yes, better documentation standards and screen for threatening behaviour

 @8S3RC65answered…4yrs4Y

Devolved nations should be able to apply their own immigration policies

 @8M4ZSDWanswered…4yrs4Y

Yes, we currently have too many immigrants, strictly screen immigrants for criminal backgrounds

 @9CLPVLVanswered…2yrs2Y

only accepting people whose country is at war with the other nation into the country

 @9C29P4Xanswered…2yrs2Y

No, and we should increase incentives for immigrants to come here to work.

 @9BH9999answered…2yrs2Y

Not a stricter one but a more thoughtful one where immigration is based on whether people have skills which would be beneficial to our country.

 @9B4DP6Tanswered…2yrs2Y

No, the current policy is sufficient and make the process easier for skilled workers.

 @99L5MM7answered…2yrs2Y

We need a strict policy without loopholes where applicants are assessed quickly and deported quickly when necessary, but we should also have a more open policy for those in actual need. Current policy encourages uncontrolled immigration

 @8Q2KWDQanswered…4yrs4Y

Yes, making the process easier to accept skilled workers and there should be a regular review to determine whether they have become productive until 5 year residency or Citizenship is obtained.

 @98MVDRHGreenanswered…2yrs2Y

 @98JYJRLanswered…2yrs2Y

A points based immigration system would be better than the current one - where immigrants who supply capacity for the skills shortages we have are prioritised. But we should ensure that we provide safe haven for those fleeing war/ persecution.
