Legitimate refugees (which the vast majority are) are fleeing horrible circumstances which we can't even begin to imagine in our safe and privileged country. As a wealthier nation which in the past (and probably present) has contributed to a lot of the problems the nations from such refugees are fleeing face it is our duty to provide a safe haven for and welcome refugees to our country. In addition lot of these refugees have a lot to offer the country too in terms of skills etc
