As a means of preventing fake news and misinformation and correcting it yes however not as a means of policing it, it's the internet, people will say what they like as they should be able to it's free speech of opinions.

Government should have better legislation/laws that make social media platforms comply to a set of standards and regulations. Putting onus on them to do more to limit fake news, trolling, fraud and fake advertising
