There are 275 conservative peers, 172 labour peers and 79 Liberal Democrat peers, 12 from other parties, 2 independents, 38 non affiliated members and 181 cross bench members as we speak. That’s a total of 759 lords which is an outrageously large amount for a second chamber

Another thing is that there are still 92 hereditry peers including 42 conservatives and David Cameron had a peerage appointence count of around 40.5 per year from 2010 to 2016 which is the highest figure of any post war priminister

A second democratically elected body will simply cause more harm than good - the system we currently have has done us strong this far, and I have complete faith in the stable House of Lords over the bickering of the Commons.

When we hear of arguments and corruption in one of the houses are the benches normally green or red? The answer speaks for itself.

As it stands today 92 appointments are hereditary. There are a litany of accusations regarding abuse of power, bribery and corruption for political gain and self elevation. The current appointment method is extremely susceptible to corruption and therefore needs a drastic review.

The HoL are one of the best organisations in the UK they provide stability and provide good inspections over the Governments plans and legislation. If they were elected it would cause a lot of problems and increase the politicisation of the legislature.
